LOVE IS IN THE AIR!
New Couples Saying "I Do" Should Talk to a Financial Planner Before They Tie the Knot
Toronto, June 8, 2005 - June is the season for love, celebration and weddings! But before actually tying the knot, couples may want to include a visit to their financial planner to make sure they have their newly merged "financial house" in order.
Financial planning isn't just about money. It's about meeting life-goals. Newlyweds have plenty of goals and issues to talk about and plan for. A few things to consider are:
- Saving for and buying a home;
- Spending, budgeting and saving as a couple;
- Estate planning issues (such as a will);
- Risk management (what happens if a spouse loses a job or becomes ill); and
- Planning for children and their education needs.
