FOCUS ON YOUR FINANCES MAKES CENTS!

Toronto, October 28, 2004 — In support of Canada Career Week (Oct.31-Nov.6) Financial Planners Standards Council (FPSC) has released its revised free online resource - Focus On Your Finances, a financial planning tool kit for Canadians aged 15 to 25.

FPSC in collaboration with CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (CFP®) professionals developed the resource for Canadian youth and educators. "I talk to adults everyday who say they wish they had acquired better money management skills earlier in life," says Frank Wiginton, CFP, a content contributor and Focus On Your Finances presenter.

To help secondary school educators introduce students to Focus On Your Finances and to elaborate on the financial planning concepts presented in it, FPSC arranges for CFP volunteers to visit secondary schools across Canada. Students also have an opportunity to learn more about the career opportunities as a CFP professional.

"The concepts of financial planning are relevant to everyone, regardless of their financial situation or age," says Ingrid Rinaldi, CFP, CA, who was a volunteer presenter at Loretto Abbey Catholic Secondary School in North York earlier this year. "I used Focus On Your Finances to introduce basic financial planning concepts such as goal setting, budgeting and cash flow," adds Rinaldi, who works at Berkshire Securities Inc.

"Focus On Your Finances is a much needed resource. As an educator, I am aware of the financial challenges my students will face," says Sandra Motta, Loretto Abbey's guidance counsellor. "A presentation from a CFP professional, like Ingrid, helps students and educators solidify the concepts introduced in the resource, while learning about the financial planning profession," Motta adds.

Focus On Your Finances is a free resource available to the public online in FPSC's Learning Centre located in the resource section of the FPSC website - www.cfp-ca.org.
