Passing the examination leading towards the Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) designation is an important milestone for those working towards the internationally recognized gold standard in financial planning. Mark Wemp wrote the June 2004 CFP Examination with more than 1000 other candidates from across the country. His top performance landed him one of only six spots on the President's List.

The overall pass rate for the June 2004 exam was 60.23 per cent. While the President's List acknowledges the top performers in the examination process, there are additional requirements involved in earning the designation. Mark has completed all requirements and is now a credentialed CFP professional.

"I am delighted to accept this honour and very proud of earning the CFP credential. It was a rigorous process which is testament to why the CFP has earned the reputation as the gold standard in financial planning," says Mark Wemp, CFP, Dundee Private Investors Inc.

"Congratulations to Mark Wemp on his success in the CFP program and making it to the President's List. Mark has demonstrated professional competence, judgment, analytical skills and a commitment to ethics in financial planning. Elmira is lucky to have him in their community," said Don Johnston, President, Financial Planners Standards Council (FPSC).

When asked why he chose the financial planning profession, Mark said: "I enjoy helping people meet their life goals. Financial planning is really about that - working with people in the context of their evolving life goals."

To earn the CFP designation, candidates must complete educational requirements set by FPSC, pass the CFP Examination, gain a minimum two years of relevant work experience and agree to abide by the FPSC Code of Ethics. To maintain the use of the designation, CFP professionals must complete annual continuing education requirements set by FPSC.
