E-Blast News

April 16, 2002

April 15 marked the public launch of FPSC's redesigned website. And you can help spread the word to your clients and their friends, relatives and colleagues.

Here's how.

Tell your clients that they and someone they know can win a new, state-of-the-art Panasonic DVD player simply by visiting FPSC's website – www.cfp-ca.org – and locating and clicking through the small photo of our now famous "Take the Next Step" pair of shoes. They're strategically placed on an important page in the "For the Public" section (Sshh! We're not saying where) and link to an entry form. If your client submits the filled-out form and gets someone they know to do the same, both will be eligible for our draw on May 15 – the more people they get, the more chances they have to win. And everyone will have taken the next step to learning a little more about financial planning and financial planning professionals just like you.

With new features, expanded content and more defined sections for CFP professionals, the public and the media, we're sure you'll find the site invaluable.

Here is what's new for CFP professionals:

  • Online licence renewal will help expedite the renewal process and save you time.
  • Help us help you is where FPSC solicits your support in helping us to educate the public and regulators about financial planning and the significance of the CFP®.
  • CFP Bulletin Board is a place for CFP professionals to share ideas and opinions.
  • And don't forget to check our updated and expanded marketing support section to see what we can do for you…and what you can do for us.

We also have added content for your clients:

…and for the media we have:

  • Our Story Ideas page is where we suggest topics, issues and news items we think will interest the media.
  • Find An Expert is a greatly improved feature that allows members of the media to search for CFP professionals who are willing to be interviewed. They can search for their experts by area of expertise, gender, location, number of years in practice and much more.
  • FPSC Comments on a variety of issues and events that impact the financial planning community. Read information like FPSC's comments on the CAIFA-CAFP merger initiative or FPSC President Don Johnston's letter about Ethics and the CFP® designation published in the April 2002 Advisor's Edge.

We also ask you to continue to submit your profiles to our online database. And based on the feedback we have been getting from CFP professionals who have already submitted their profile, we are working out the programming problems.
