About the Award
The Purpose
The Donald J. Johnston award was established to:
- Recognize and honour, in perpetuity, the spirit, imagination, dedication and contribution exemplified by FPSC's first and founding CEO in leading the organization through its initial successful decade of development and operation as the standard-setting organization for the emerging financial planning profession in Canada.
- Create a platform for annual public recognition, appreciation and celebration of the significant contributions made by individuals (or groups of individuals) to the profession of financial planning in Canada, thereby heightening general awareness of the progress being made to benefit consumers of financial planning services.

Nominations due January 15, 2008
Nominations for the 2008 Donald J. Johnston Award are now being accepted. Please read the official award criteria and submit a nomination by January 15, 2008.
Recognition and Award
The annual recipient of this award will be honoured at the Annual FPSC Board of Directors Reception. Award recipients will be announced in FPSC news releases, FPSC print and electronic communications and on the FPSC website. Each recipient will receive a wall plaque/trophy engraved with the details of their distinction as an award recipient. And, FPSC will donate $10,000 in the recipient's honour to the charity or charities of the recipient's choice. Follow-up media pitches and stories will be arranged by FPSC staff.
